Today, August 7, a significant scientific event took place at Kherson State University - the successful defense of a dissertation by PhD graduate Yevhenii Khomenko to obtain the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in specialty 121 «Software Engineering».

The topic of the dissertation research is «Development of a local IoT system for monitoring and controlling room conditions based on the Home Assistant platform», supervisor - Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Serhii Babichev, professor of the Department of Physics at Kherson State University.

On July 30, 2026, in his 82nd year of life, after a serious illness, Mykola Ivanovych Babenko passed away – a PERSON whose name is forever inscribed in the history of Kherson education, Honored Teacher of Ukraine, Honorary Citizen of Kherson, founder of the city's first physics and mathematics lyceum, long-time director of the Kherson Physics and Technical Lyceum, wise mentor, outstanding educator, talented leader, and a true patriot of Ukraine.

Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, professor, Distinguished Educator of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Honorary Doctor of Sciences of Kherson State University Mykhailo Serhiyovych Lvov addressed the academic community of KSU with words of sincere gratitude for the congratulations and support.

Artem Shevchenko, a 4th-year student majoring in 122 Computer Science at the Faculty of Digital Technologies, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics (FDTNSM), won the regional classical chess tournament "S.A. Golubev Memorial." The competition took place from July 14 to July 18 in Odesa.

Students of groups 12-111, 12-121, 12-131 and 12-321 prepared thematic greeting photos for Europe Day.

Протягом першого тижня викладачі, студенти та запрошені гості мали змогу долучитися до низки відкритих лекцій та конференцій, присвячених передовим технологіям, штучному інтелекту та актуальним питанням сучасної освіти.

Програма охопила широкий спектр тем - від використання байєсівських мереж та алгоритмів криптографії до інтеграції ШІ у вивчення мов і побудови фреймворків для самонавчання. Приділили увагу також методиці викладання математики у сучасній школі та фундаментальним питанням фізичної реальності.

18 травня 2026 року факультет комп’ютерних наук, фізики та математики ХДУ розпочав традиційну серію наукових та науково-практичних заходів у межах «Днів науки - 2026». On April 23, 2026, a meeting was held dedicated to the issues of inclusion and the use of Braille in the educational environment.

The keynote speakers were representatives of our faculty: Elvira Andriiv, a 2nd-year student majoring in Software Engineering, under the supervision of Maksym Poltoratskyi, PhD, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering and Assistant to the Rector for Strategic Issues.

On April 20, 2026, Valerii Ivanovych Kuzmych, Associate Professor of the Department of Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Analysis and Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, delivered a lecture for physics and mathematics teachers of the Kherson region. The lecture was titled: "Designing a Modern Educational Process for Physics Studies through the Integration of Natural Sciences and Mathematics." The session was attended by 24 teachers.

On April 16, faculty members of the Department of Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Analysis held an online event for graduating students of the Komyshany General Secondary School of I-III Degrees No. 26 (Kherson City Council). The meeting focused on the presentation of the "Secondary Education (Mathematics and Computer Science)" educational program. This event served as a platform to discuss the advantages of studying at Kherson State University (KSU) and the professional prospects of becoming a teacher of mathematics and informatics.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, students of the Kherson Academic Lyceum attended a landmark meeting with Vitaliy Kobets, an alumnus of the Lyceum and currently a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering of Kherson State University. The lecture topic — "Augmenting Human Intelligence with AI within Ethical Boundaries" — sparked significant interest among prospective applicants planning to pursue careers in Information Technology.

9 квітня в межах тижня очних занять на факультеті комп’ютерних наук, фізики та математики відбулася серія заходів, в межах яких викладачі та здобувачі освіти ХДУ разом із колегами з КНУ занурилися у світ фундаментальної науки, інтелектуальних систем та нестандартних математичних задач.

Третій день тижня очного навчання для студентів ФКНФМ був присвячений найактуальнішим темам сучасності - штучному інтелекту та кібербезпеці. Здобувачі ХДУ разом із колегами з КНУ мали змогу подискутувати про те, як змусити нейромережі працювати на себе та як не стати жертвою високотехнологічних шахраїв. Обговорення відбулися у межах відкритих лекцій, що об’єднали теоретичні знання з практичними кейсами ІТ-індустрії. Лекторами виступили викладач кафедри комп'ютерних наук та програмної інженерії, аспірант Дмитро Кльонов та аспірант Олег Риснюк.

On April 7, as part of the on-campus learning week, students, PhD candidates, and faculty members of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics at Kherson State University (KSU), alongside colleagues and students from Precarpathian National University, had the unique opportunity to attend a public lecture by the Rector of KSU, Oleksandr V. Spivakovsky, titled "Leadership and Charisma: A New Context of Harmony."

At Kherson State University, work is underway on the preparation of the 21st International Conference ICTERI 2026. This year, the scientific event will take place at Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovych.

Другий день очного навчання - 7 квітня - на факультеті комп’ютерних наук, фізики та математики ХДУ виявився надзвичайно насиченим. Студенти та викладачі занурилися у світ мобільної розробки, штучного інтелекту та вдосконалення академічних навичок у змішаному форматі.

On Monday, April 6, 2026, as part of the in-person learning week at the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics of Kherson State University, a research seminar titled "AI in the Educational Process" was held.

On April 3, 2026, Professor Vitaliy Kobets of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering met with students from the Kherson Physics and Technology Lyceum (PTL). The discussion centered on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on modern education, the transformation of the IT market, and the ethical challenges facing future professionals.

From March 28 to April 2, Chernivtsi hosted the Stage III of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Physics. Tetiana Goncharenko, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, Physics, and Mathematics (FCSM) at Kherson State University (KSU), joined the expert jury to evaluate the knowledge of Ukraine's most talented students.

18 березня 2026 року відбулася чергова зустріч у межах Міжнародного воркшопу «Advances & Challenges in Computing (A2C)». Захід пройшов в онлайн-форматі та об'єднав провідних науковців і молодих дослідників для обговорення найсучасніших досягнень у галузі комп’ютингу.

У роботі воркшопу взяли активну участь представники кафедри компютерних наук та програмної інженерії Херсонського державного університету в складі професора Віталія Кобця, аспірантів Дмитро Кльонова, Костянтина Федченко, Олексія Іванова, Владислава Яцюти, а також магістрант спеціальності Інформаційні системи та технології Дмитро Волик та студент 12-461 групи (спеціальність Інформаційні системи та технології) Іван Шляхтенко.
