A meeting of the one-time specialized scientific council for specialty 091 Biology was held at the Ivano-Frankivsk office of Kherson State University to conduct the defense of a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by PhD student Nadiia Skobel.
Scientific supervisor – Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Botany at Kherson State University Ivan Moisiienko.
Dissertation topic: «Flora of old cemeteries of the Right-Bank Grain Steppe»
It is significant that the research is connected to the Kherson region, with the preservation of cultural heritage and the flora of the south during the post-war recovery of the region.
Head of the specialized scientific council – Vice-Rector for Academic and Scientific-Pedagogical Work, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Geography and Ecology at Kherson State University Daria Malchykova.
Before the start of the meeting, KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovsky presented Nadiia Skobel with a certificate of appreciation for her activity and scientific research on the occasion of Ukraine's Science Day.
He also congratulated the members of the scientific council and wished them fruitful work.
In his address to the doctoral student, the Rector noted that the defense of the research and obtaining a PhD degree would be only the first step toward new achievements.
"For after every conquered peak, new horizons open up, and thus – it is time to take the first step again. This is how a scientist's path is formed: by overcoming peak after peak, we constantly discover new opportunities for development, research, and discoveries," – noted Oleksandr Spivakovsky.
